I have received samples of the updated design for The Albert . They are available on Etsy. May order more if they are popular.
The Albert
I love Diamine inks. I have been buying my favourite colours in the classic 80ml glass bottles since 2012. Their glass bottles are stable and do not topple over when I’m inking my pens, but I do not necessarily want to buy 80ml of ink without trying it out.
Fortunately, Diamine also sells ink in convenient 30ml plastic bottles. Those smaller bottles are great for sampling, but they are a bit unstable and I did manage to create a mess on more than one occasion.
A recent spillage got me thinking of a way to make it more convenient to use the Diamine 30ml ink bottles. The result is The Albert—a must-have accessory for a true Diamine ink fan.
What Does The Albert Do?
The Albert is designed to stop you from having to hold the bottle and the pen together during inking. Simply place the bottle inside The Albert, unscrew the cap, and use both hands to hold the pen while inking it. It is more convenient, safe, and tidy.
Why “The Albert”?
Diamine inks are made in Liverpool, United Kingdom. When I started working on the prototype for the Diamine 30ml ink bottle stand I wanted to create a connection with Liverpool without trampling all over Diamine’s trademarks. The Beatles were out of the question too. I do however have an old wool jumper I bought many years ago from one of the shops located in the Albert Dock. That’s how The Albert was born.
